Lencsefőzelék angolul

A klasszikus főzeléket az angolok nem ismerik, ezért erre szavuk nem igazán van. A főzelékhez legközelebb álló angol szó talán a stew, mely szó szerint dinsztelve és lassan főzve elkészített ragut jelent. Az angolok egyébként a pörköltre is a stew szót használják. A lencsefőzelék angolul tehát a “lentil stew”.

A lencse leves angolul pedig “lentil soup”

Lencsefőzelék recept következik, természetesen angolul:

Ingredients for lentil stew:

400 g lentils
1 tablespoon of brown sugar
1 red onion
2 cloves of garlic
bay leaf
salt, pepper, red pepper
mustard
possibly vinegar
sour cream

Wash the lentils thoroughly in a colander, then boil them in enough water to cover the lentils. (Lentil soup will taste much better if you boil it in smoked meat stock or broth.) Season with salt and pepper, add bay leaf and cook until tender (this takes about 45 minutes, if you soak the lentils for a half an hour in advance it will reduce the cooking time to about 25 minutes. As the quality and cooking time of the lentils can vary from one variety to another, always check that they are cooked)

Meanwhile, make a brown stir-fry by melting the sugar in a little oil, add the chopped onion, crushed garlic, paprika, flour, fry a little, add 100 ml of cold water and stir until no lumps form. When the lentils are completely softened, add them to the soup.

Season with mustard, salt and pepper to taste. Some people add vinegar, or if you like it sour creamy, you can add sour cream. Finally, it is very important to serve the lentil stew hot!
